CHEER INFORMATION

Orem Cheer Information (2008-2009)

 

UNIFORM FITTINGS:

Uniform Fittings are Tuesday April 29^th at 2:30pm.  This is mandatory for each girl to be at. Parents are recommended to be there but not required. Our very first practice will be held directly after uniform fittings at which cheerleaders will be assigned stunt groups and learn the basics of stunting in order to prepare for the safety stunt clinic.

 

SAFETY STUNT CLINIC:

There will be a safety stunt clinic Tuesday May 6^th from 4:00pm-6:00pm. 

We will be meeting at Mountain View High School at 3:45pm.  Please be dressed and ready to go (Orem colors).  Rides please pick girls up at Mountain View @ 6:00pm.

 

SUMMER PRACTICES:

Summer practices start June 3^rd from 7:00am-10:00am (Monday-Friday). 

These practices are mandatory and will go all the way up until cheer camp July 7-10.  After cheer camp there will be no summer practices the rest of the month of July and the first week of August.  Summer practices will start up again August 11^th until school begins August 18^th

*Parents please plan summer vacations on weeks that there is no cheer practice. Thanks!

 

CHEER CAMP:

Cheer camp this year is July 7^th-10^th (Monday-Thursday). We will be attending a UCA camp. Most questions can be answered by visiting www.varsity.com

 

CHEER CLASS:

Cheer class is A1 (7:45am-9:05am). Please get registered as soon as possible.  Expect some early morning practices before cheer class.

NO early morning classes are allowed!

 

PAYMENTS:

Cheerleading is not cheap!!!

-       Cheer Deposit: $50

-       Cheer Camp: $270

-       Cheer Uniform & Attire: JV $400 / Varsity $550

-       Camp Clothes: $50

-       Other Payments (Competitions, Parties, etc.) 

All payments must be paid at the financial office. You are responsible for getting your money in on time and keeping personal records of each payment.

 

BIG SISTER / LITTLE SISTER:

Each new cheerleader (little sister) will be assigned a returning cheerleader (big sister) to teach them cheers, dances, routine, etc. during the month of May. Sisters are responsible for finding times to meet outside of school and cheer. Each cheer, dance, routine, etc. will need to be learned and passed off by both sisters before games begin in order for either of them to cheer at the games. There will be time set aside for pass offs before each season (football, basketball, and wrestling). A CD of all the cheers will be available for $2.00

 

SQUADS:

This year each girl will have the choice as to which squad you are trying out for

(JV, Varsity, or Either).  You will only be considered for the squad you mark.

 

GAMES:

-       JV is required to cheer at all JV football and basketball games, along with some wrestling matches and some girls Varsity basketball games.

-      Varsity is required to cheer at all Varsity football and basketball games, along with some wrestling matches and some girls Varsity basketball games.  

 

FUNDRAISERS:

There is no reason why you should not be able to pay off your entire cheerleading year through fundraising alone.  We will provide you with several opportunities to fundraise throughout the year. Some fundraisers will go towards the entire squad finances (camp, competitions, parties, etc.) while others will go towards individual payments (uniforms, etc.).     

-       Mini Cheer Summer Camp June 5^th & 6^th 8:00am-1:00pm

-       Car Wash / Yard Sale – Saturday June 7^th 9:00am-2:00pm (start saving your stuff)

-       RC Willey hot dog sales

-       Mini Cheer Clinics (football/basketball)

-       Cookie Dough 

-       Adds / Donations / Tiger Cards

Parents…we are looking for your help this year!  We know that there are many parent willing and wanting to help with the Orem Cheer program.  Here is your opportunity. If you would like to help or have any great ideas that might help this program, please feel free to email me.
